Ansaldo STS sees 3.8% turnover increase in Jan-Sept 2012

Summary:Italian rail signalling systems manufacturer Ansaldo STS has posted a 3.8% year-on-yearincrease in its revenues to EUR 873.5mn (USD 1.13bn) in the first nine months of 2012.

Italian rail signalling systems manufacturer Ansaldo STS has posted a 3.8% year-on-year

increase in its revenues to EUR 873.5mn (USD 1.13bn) in the first nine months of 2012. Its

net profit went down by 6.6% year-on-year to EUR 45.6mn, while its EBIT stood at EUR 77.6mn.

In the same period, Ansaldo STS received commissions for EUR 1.05bn, as compared to EUR

921.2mn in the same period of 2011, and made investments in research and development for EUR

23.8mn. Finally, its profitability index stood at 8.9%. Its Signalling compartment posted a

EUR 505.1mn turnover, as opposed to EUR 515.7mn in the same period of 2011. In the third

quarter of 2012, its EBIT stood at EUR 47.9mn, as compared to EUR 51.7 in the same period in

2011. On the other end, its Transportation Solutions compartment registered a EUR 381.5mn

turnover in January-September 2012, as opposed to EUR 342.1mn in the same period of 2011,

while its EBIT for July-September 2012 stood at EUR 40.3mn, as compared to EUR 32.7mn for

the same quarter of 2011.
