Xiangtang-Putian Railway Starts Operation

As the first railway linking the central Chinese mainland with the western bank of the Taiwan Straits, Xiangtang-Putian railway is 603.6 kilometers in length and will reduce the travel time substantially from east China's Jiangxi Province to southeast China's Fujian Province.
The Nanchang Railway Bureau reports that the Xiangpu Railway opens on Sept 26, at which point it will only take three-and-a-quarter hours to get from the city of Fuzhou, Fujian province, to the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi province, and four hours, fifty minutes from Xiamen to Nanchang.
The railway bureau has also confirmed the ticket prices for the railway, revealing that it will cost passengers RMB192.5 and RMB160.5 for first-class seats and second-class seats respectively between Nanchang and Fuzhou. A first-class seat between Nanchang and Xiamen will cost RMB252.5 and a second-class seat RMB211.
After its opening, 18.5 pairs of bullet trains will run on the railway line during its initial operation. The line will be operated by CRH1A and CRH2A trains, which can carry 670 and 610 passengers respectively.
According to reports, the Xiangtang-Putian railway is also available for freight transport. Before, there are two ways into Xiamen for freight transport: the Ying-Xia line or going to Longyan on the Long-Zhang line, then taking the Gan-Long line. After the Xiang-Pu Railway opens, there will be a new high-speed railway connecting the province to inland areas.
The railway bureau started to sell train tickets on 21st September. As of the morning of 23rd September, 132,000 tickets had been sold, with over 20,000 tickets sold for 30th September and more than 10,000 for the 28th and 29th of September and 1st, 6th and 7th October.
