The upcoming merger of China's top two high-speed train manufacturers, CNR and CSR, will help the country to compete for a larger share of the global market, Premier Li Keqiang said on Friday. 

 

"The merging of CNR and CSR will establish a jumbo, which will include not only locomotive manufacturing but also support industries," Li said. 

 

He was speaking at the country's largest urban rail manufacturing plant during a visit to Changchun, Jilin province. 

 

Li inspected the assembly lines at Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, a CNR subsidiary that manufactures almost half of China's subway and urban rail equipment. 

 

The assembly area is where workers fit insulation panels, control systems, lights and other equipment to carriages.
