Trimble and video system suppler Railhead Corp have announced a partnership to integrate real-time remote monitoring, diagnostics and on-board video to maximise locomotive asset utilisation. Railhead will also offer Trimble’s R2M remote diagnostic system in the US market. Currently in widespread use in Europe, R2M processes multiple data feeds from on-train event recorders to provide fault alerts to control rooms and depots.

Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has rejected Amalgam Rail Investments Ltd’s plan to acquire the entire share capital of wagon leasing company Brunswick Rail. Brunswick said the implications of the decision on the transaction were ‘uncertain’, and it understood that Amalgam planned to appeal.

Trelleborg has opened a polyurethane manufacturing factory at Retford in the UK, consolidating facilities in Retford, Knaresborough and two in Coventry. Rail products include Trelleborg’s Pre-Coated Rail System which provides resilient rail support and electrical insulation, and the Vector Embedded Rail System which uses a one-piece microcellular polymer foam.

PKP Energetyka is planning to buy out GE’s 50% stake in Elester-PKP which supplies traction power supply equipment.
