Two lines open in China
2017-06-19 14:03:00CHINA: Trial services on the 40·7 km Ningbo – Yuyao Intercity Railway in Zhejiang province began on June 10. Services are operated by a fleet of eight-car CRH6F Cinova trainsets supplied by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen. These operate at a maximum speed of 160 km/h and have a high capacity of 2 000 passengers. There are no intermediate stations, and the eight services each way per day offer a journey time of 35 min.
The 469 km Kuytun – Beitun line was extended 67 km north from Beitun to Altai in the northwestern Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on the same day. The single track, non-electrified extension was built at cost of 1·4bn yuan, with work starting in April 2014, five years after the Kuytun – Beitun line had opened. Services are hauled by DF4D diesel locomotives.
