The Renaissance EMU train marks a gold-medal victory for the country in its transition from the "made-in-China" to "designed-in-China" label, said Guo Rui, a deputy to the 13th National People’s Congress during a news conference Monday.

Guo, who is chief technical specialist for China Railway Rolling Stock Corp (CRRC), the country's railway vehicle, and an equipment manufacturer and exporter also in charge of the building of the Renaissance EMU train and the China Railway High-speed (CRH) train, said that to make the Chinese company a world-class brand, apart from a strong R&D team, the spirit of the craftsman is needed.

“There are a total of over 500,000 components involved in assembling the Renaissance EMU train, and every component should be as delicate as artwork. For a truck journal box in the train we made, for example, the assembly accuracy is controlled to lower than 0.04 millimeter (mm).

“Innovative ability and our strict quality control enable the country to take a lead in the high-speed train industry,” said Guo.
