The second China (Taiyuan) Modern Logistics and Intelligent Transport Industrial Expo featuring the latest and most advanced products opened in Taiyuan on Aug 16.

The three-day expo, which has a theme of integration, innovation and development of modern logistics, focuses on showcasing the integration of Belt and Road construction, equipment manufacturing and modern logistics in Shanxi province, as well as achievements in the intelligent transportation sector, new energy transportation, the latest equipment and technologies in storage, transport and packaging, as well as the construction of intelligent logistics cloud platforms and modern logistics industrial parks.

More than 70 domestic companies are participating in the event, displaying their new products and techniques in the exhibition area covering more than 10,000 square meters.

For example, the X5 multimodal transport cargo train on display at the outdoor exhibition area is produced by China Railway Transportation Logistics based on the current situation of domestic logistics and the advantage using rail for long-haul destinations. The cargo train is a semitrailer design that fills the gap in China’s multimodal transport technologies.

A few new companies have also attracted visitors' attention. Yunbangzhaohuo, a firm based in Shanghai, operates a professional online transaction platform for bulk vehicle transportation, and provides related companies and agents with plans on purchase and transportation; it also offers carriers intelligent logistics management services, attracting many businesspeople to the expo.

Apart from the exhibition, business negotiations and industrial forum activities such as the 2018 Taiyuan Logistics Summit are scheduled to take place during the expo.

Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, has been expanding its logistics industry in recent years. There are 69 logistics industrial parks and centers, and 141 standard and professional warehouses in the city, which has formed a development pattern led by coal, iron and steel logistics and coordinated with logistics serving the farm produce, cold chain, e-commerce, and pharmaceutical sectors.
