Following a food safety scandal, China Railway Guangzhou Group has removed all boxed meals from a suspect batch on its lines and established a group on Sunday to investigate the food supply chain.

Two passengers, surnamed Zhu and Xia, bought two boxes of beef and chicken wing rice on their way from Beijing to Wuhan, Hubei province, on Saturday, only to find the food was moldy. They complained immediately and had the 80 yuan ($11.70) cost of the meals refunded, also receiving two new boxed meals as compensation, Hubei Daily reported.

As they left the train, they received a message saying the people responsible would visit them and apologize the next day.

China Railway Guangzhou Group said it has suspended cooperation with Shanghai Xincheng, the company that provided the boxed meals.
