Tickets for the subway connecting downtown Beijing with the newly built Daxing International Airport will be priced 10 yuan ($1.42) - 35 yuan depending on travel distance, the municipal authority announced on Thursday.

Tickets for distances of 20 kilometers will be 10 yuan, while 20-30 kilometers will be 25 yuan and distances over 30 kilometers will be 35 yuan.

Passengers who travel from Caoqiao, the subway station in downtown Beijing, to the new airport will pay 35 yuan for the whole trip.

According to the Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters Office, trains traveling on the line will have eight carriages, including one business-class, six regular carriages and one for luggage. Each will be 22.8 meters long and 3.3 meters wide.

Tickets for business class will be 50 yuan.

The new airport subway line has four stations in total: the Lize commercial business zone station, Caoqiao, Daxing new city station and Daxing airport station.

It will take about the same time to travel by train from central Beijing to the new airport, which is due to open in September, as it does to travel to the much closer existing airport, thanks to the subway connection.

Subway trains to Daxing International Airport will hit speeds of 160 kilometers per hour.

The distance from the capital's central business district (CBD) to the new airport is around 40 kilometers, while the Beijing Capital International Airport is just 23 kilometers northeast of the CBD.
