WARSAW, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Thanks to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, Poland will be able to export its food products to China by rail, Polish State Railways Cargo (PKP Cargo) said on Tuesday.

Shipments from across Poland will be transported to Malaszewicze in east Poland. From there, food products will arrive in the city of Xi'an in central China in 14 days, the company said in a statement. In the past, Polish exports to China had been transported by air and sea.

"Transporting food by rail from Poland to China through Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan is the fastest and most effective land route and that is why we want to launch this connection," said Czeslaw Warsewicz, head of PKP Cargo.

In the initial phase of the project, due to the lack of available refrigerated containers, transport will only be possible for products requiring no refrigeration and are not sensitive to temperature changes. Enditem
