CHANGSHA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Central China's Hunan Province has launched 100 China-Europe freight trains this year as of Wednesday, up 122 percent year on year, according to China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd.

The company's freight center in Changsha, capital of the province, established a four-party communication mechanism with customs and other institutions and set up a green channel to ensure the safety, stability and efficiency of the freight trains, the company said.

"The trains' punctuality rate has exceeded 99 percent because of the measures that we have taken including the timely declaration of operation plans," said Yan Minghui, an employee of the center.

"There are two main reasons for Hunan's surge in the freight train service," said Chen Hongsheng, assistant general manager of a company based in Changsha. "One is the increase in foreign countries' demand for epidemic prevention materials and other supplies, and another is the growth of products of the province's manufacturers exported to Europe, Central Asia and other regions."
