Bodi International to purchase locomotives for Mongolian rail line
2021-03-18 14:36:46These new trains will provide services on the Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait rail line, which is expected to be completed by next year.
Owned by the Mongolian Government, Tavan Tolgoi Railway Company will manage the rail operations on the 250km line.
Progress Rail president and CEO Marty Haycraft said: “Our engineering and commercial teams consistently go above and beyond to meet the needs of our global customers, and this project serves as a prime example of that.
“These locomotives will undergo rugged service and must be able to withstand harsh conditions. We welcome the opportunity to showcase the leading performance of our EMD engines in these new units for Bodi International.”
The new locomotives feature the latest industry technology and are capable of meeting the requirements of the 1,520mm gauge region.
They are equipped with 16-cylinder EMD 710 Series engines, rated at 4,500BHP (3,355kW) and follow the International Union of Railways and EU Stage IIIA emissions standards.
