The type A metro vehicle of advanced technology, high capacity, comfort experience will first run in Beijing subway line. On March 28, CSR Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. and Beijing Subway Corporation sign a project involving 25 150-car stainless steel subway vehicles which will run in subway Line 14 in Beijing. 

According to sources, the type A metro vehicle is a high-end product on behalf of the advanced subway vehicle technology which is particularly suitable for large-capacity level of subway lines. In China, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities have this type of metro vehicles. The signed Line 14 Type A metro vehicle is equipped with lightweight, coating-less and stainless steel body for the first time in type A metro vehicles in China, making it energy-saving, environmental friendly, and aesthetic. The vehicle adopts advanced, mature and reliable technologies and follows the latest European technical standards of vehicle anti-collision, body’s strength and other properties. The vehicle’s maximum operating speed is 80 km/h by using the pantograph current collection. Each vehicle includes six cars which are about three meters longer than Type B subway cars currently used in Beijing. The doors are also increased from 8 pairs to 10 pairs, and the passenger capacity is nearly 500 people more than the existing vehicles. 

CSR Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. is an important R&D and manufacturing base of China’s rail transportation equipment. Its high-speed MU, urban rail vehicles and other products are highly acclaimed for leading technology and reliable operation quality. In 2011, the company successfully exported 132 Type A metro vehicles to Singapore, making China one of the countries with highest admittance standards of world’s subway technology. 

According to sources, Beijing Subway Line 14 is a major rail transportation route connecting the northeast and southwest directions with lines in the three districts of Fengtai, Chongwen, and Chaoyang. The total length is 47.3 km, and it is positioned as a line of large capacity serving both central urban areas and peripheral regions, aiming at relieving the traffic and guiding the development. 

It is reported that the first subway vehicle will be delivered in November this year, and all vehicles will be delivered by May 2014.
