Fastest Locomotive in “Chinese Red”Travel on Roof of the World

    In December 10, train operation on all railway lines in China was re-scheduled. At 12:30 of the day, T27 train, drawn by HXD1D large-power AC driven electric locomotive developed by CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Company, started to travel across Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, past Qinghai Lake, and was to arrive at Eastern Golmud Station more than 1,000 kilometers away at 00:25 of the next day. It was the fastest locomotive traveling on Roof of the World, with its appearance of "Chinese Red" make itself a running landscape on the plateau.

    With maximum power of 7,200 KW and maximum tractive force of 420 KN, this locomotive is capable of accelerating from a motionless state to speed of 160 km/h within 5 minutes, and traveling at such constant speed. So far 351 HXD1D locomotives have been distributed to 8 service sections under 7 railway administrations around China.
 
    After the re-scheduling, 50 pairs of Z type and T type express trains will be drawn by this locomotive, on a number of main lines such as Qinghai-Tibet Line, Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Kowloon, Shanghai-Lanzhou and Lanzhou-Sinkiang Lines, playing a leading role in the re-scheduling.
 
    To ensure smooth implementation of the re-scheduling, CSR Zhuzhou Company carried out service assurance activities in advance, such as winter inspection of Harmonious-I locomotives, and regulation and general maintenance of key components on locomotives of various models to improve reliability of them.
 
    After release of the re-scheduling scheme, CSR Zhuzhou Company started special technical support for it, including strengthening inventory of spare parts, developing quick information handling mechanism, using 120 trouble consultation station, enhancing locomotive incoming/outgoing inspection to ensure smooth implementation of the re-scheduling and safe, reliable and effective operation of HXD1D locomotives.
