      On the morning of August 7, Lu Dongfu, General Manager of CHINA RAILWAY met with Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and her delegation at CHINA RAILWAY. The two sides held talks on the implementation of the guiding principles from President Xi Jinping’s important address at the 20th Anniversary of HK’s Return to Motherland & the Inauguration of the fifth-term government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. They also compared notes on advancing exchanges and cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong in the field of railway.

  On behalf of CHINA RAILWAY, Lu congratulated Carrie Lam on assuming the post of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and expressed welcome to Carrie Lam and her mission. He said that with the support of the central government, railway construction in the mainland has enjoyed rapid development. The scale and quality of railway network has improved significantly. World-class advances were made in the overall technical strength. Railway sectors in the mainland and Hong Kong have seized opportunities brought by the Belt and Road initiative, continuously deepened exchanges and cooperation in various fields of railway,  and achieved important results. Lu suggested that the mainland and Hong Kong establish a coordination mechanism to deepen railway cooperation, and better combine the advantage of the mainland railway in professional technical management and the strength of Hong Kong railway in business development to further expand areas of cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win outcome.
