Railway Volume Exceeds 590m in Summer Transport 2017
2017-09-22 09:42:00During this year’s summer transport season, students, migrant workers, family visitors, tourists and businesspersons constitute overlapped traffic flows that keep train ridership high. National railways transported a total of 592. 094 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 51.641m, or 9.6%. The daily ridership during the season amounted to 9.55m, and 16 days witnessed a daily ridership of over 10m. On August 26, 11.016m passengers traveled by train, 573,000 more than the number of the peak day of last summer transport season, registering a new record.
During the same period, trains nationwide transported 495m tons of goods, an increase of 14.1% over the same period last year. 130,080 carloads of freight transport were completed daily, up 13,700 carloads on last year, or 11.7%.
