The railway supports Xiongan New Area's easing of non-capital functions of Beijing. It will connect with Beijing West Railway Station and Xiongan-Shangqiu High-speed Railway, and then shape a transportation network between Xiongan New Area and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway plays an important role in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development.

The Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway will start from Liying Station of Beijing-Jiulong Railway, run past Beijing Daxing district, Beijing New Airport, and Hebei Bazhou, and arrive in Xiongan New Area.

The total distance is 92.4 km, and has five stations. The speed of trains from Liying Station to Beijing New Airport will be 250km/h; it will open in September 2019. The speed of trains from Beijing New Airport to Xiongan New Area will be 350km/h; it will open at the end of 2020.

The Beijing-Xiongan Railway will be the most convenient and most efficient traffic channel between Beijing, Beijing New Airport and Xiongan New Area. It will take only 30 minutes to travel from Beijing to Xiongan New Area.

Xiongan Station is near Baigou Station and Bazhou West Railway Station of the Tianjin-Baoding Railway. It will link with the Tianjin-Baoding Railway, so that residents who live in Tianjin will be able to reach Xiongan by Tianjin-Baoding Railway in the future.
